What is this place?

Origin Story

As a travel journal, this website is dedicated to the people in my life who matter most to me, namely my family, friends, and other assorted humans who’ve had some part in shaping my experience of planet Earth so far.

I’ve been a lot of things so far in this lifetime, and most recently I was what they call an ‘entrepreneur.’ Which is a fancy way of saying I sacrificed almost my whole lived experience at the altar of capitalist prosperity. Personal relationships, healthy boundaries, 100% of “spare” time, the only romantic relationship that ever truly mattered, my physical health, mental health-hell, just my health in general, and of course every penny to my name, all laid before that ever-so-holy American Shrine.

So when the company blew up in my face in spectacular violence, it took with it just about everything.

All that was left, in the end, was me, Eric. Just a 44 yo dude holed up in a garage who, for reasons that had escaped conscious notice until quite recently, never managed to get rid of his old backpacking gear.

The plan:

I will walk as far as I am able, or want to, every day. I’ll eat…well whatever I can find, really.

And I’ll try to write about it daily. We’ll see how it goes!

A note on F bombs:

This website is for anybody, really, and all ages are welcome to read. That said, I may wander into some fairly heavy topics, and have never shied away from peppering up a phrase with some really well-placed profanity. Read at your own risk, fuckers!
